Solid Waste Management is all about how solid waste can be changed and used as a valuable resource i.e. ‘waste to wealth’. Due to the large number of Urban Local Bodies and population waste generation is high. This waste can be converted into wealth in the form of compost and energy. The state also has a good number of STPs, so sludge can also be utilized easily.

Apart from this, the citizens have a very important role to play in solid waste management as well.

Solid wastes should be collected at Street level,Village levels, gram panchayat level & should be sent to newly installed nearby Waste Processing Industries for their conversion to bioethanol. Such industries should be setup near villages & urban areas so that entire UP is covered & the problem of waste disposal in whole UP is checked, & we get valuable fuel to run our vehicles. Blending of Bioethanol to Petrol will not only reduce fuel cost drastically but is also environmental friendly.

Large no. of Waste processing industries should be setup in UP for CONVERSION OF SOLID WASTES INTO BIOETHANOL. R&D in Waste processing should also be setup to do extensive research on biotechniques like fermentation etc. to produce bioethanol. This will also prevent problem of waste disposal & will provide valuable fuel out of waste. This huge biofuel generation will be in line with achieving the Prime Minister's vision of blending 20 % ethanol in petrol by 2025, for sustainability.
